Why Do A Boudoir Photoshoot? How Intimate Portraiture Boosts Self-Confidence in Women

Have you ever been told "You look good for your age"?
For some reason this statement irks me.
Because every person is different. So how exactly am I "supposed" to look at 40? At 45? At 50 or 60? Should I have wrinkles or not? Should I have laugh lines? Should I have stretch marks on my thighs and stomach or should I have an intimate relationship with my botox and laser techs?
Now this is no shade to those women who chose to undergo those procedures, but my point is, there is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to getting older.
But society has ingrained in us - specifically women - that aging needs to happen in a particular way. And that expectation has inevitably led to us over-analysing and over-critiquing our supposed physical flaws - every mark, every roll, every physical instance that does not match the perfectly curated and airbrushed (and now AI) models that are seen on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok or whichever new social media platform is popular at the moment.
Make no mistake, an Intimate Portrait Session is not meant to be a makeover. You are not a project to be worked on. You are already strong, beautiful and sensual. Your Intimate Portrait Session is simply designed to bring this beauty to the forefront for you to acknowledge and accept.
Your Boudoir Photoshoot isn't just about taking stunningly polished images.
It's about seeing yourself in a way that you haven't in a long time or perhaps never have.
It's about reclaiming those parts of womanhood that you may have forgotten and are inherently yours.
It's about embracing your body with love and not criticism.
It's about remembering that you are worthy of love and joy.
So many times we avoid photos or only take highly filtered selfies that we may never post because they aren't taken at the right angle or in the right light. But your Boudoir Photoshoot allows you to become more comfortable and more self-assured with each pose and each shot taken. You no longer have the option to belittle or undervalue yourself and tell yourself you "don't look good in photos". It helps you to dismantle the fears, insecurities and doubts you have about yourself and empowers you to embrace the strong, beautiful and sensual woman that you keep hidden from others and most especially, yourself.
There is also something incredibly healing about letting go and just "being". You may start off your photoshoot nervous and apprehensive about "doing it right". But as you progress, you drop your guard and allow yourself to simply be in the moment. And this is one of the true benefits of Intimate Portraiture. It allows you to access that part of you that you keep hidden from most people for fear of being judged or shamed for being who you are. It allows you to connect and be fully present in your body. And this is a connection will be felt long after the session is over.
"That's me?!"
This is usually the response when a woman sees her final photos. She cannot believe that this is what she looks like when viewed through a lens that is not her own, biased and self-deprecating perspective.
But this is who she has always been and she just needed a reminder. A reminder that she is strong, powerful, has endured everything life has thrown at her at this point and is worthy of being seen
